Rich Harden had a perfect game broken up with 2 out in the 5th but pitched 8 innings and allowed just 2 hits and a walk while striking out a career-high 11. Carlos Gonzalez homered for the A's and picked up 2 hits while Shane Victorino had both hits Harden gave up.

From McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. The A's won in 11 innings, 3-2. Trailing in the last of the ninth, Jack Cust led off with a home run and with 2 out pinch-hitter Kurt Suzuki tied it with one of his own, both against Brandon Morrow. Then in the 11th, Emil Brown hit a walk-off homer to end the game. Greg Smith and R.A. Dickey both pitched well, neither allowing a run. Brad Ziegler ran his career-starting scoreless streak to 19 innings.

From McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. The Rangers won, 14-6. After scoring 5 early runs, the A's allowed 14 consecutive runs to the Rangers including 8 in the 9th. Josh Hamilton homered and reached 100 RBI for the season. David Murphy and Chris Davis also went deep for Texas. Oakland's Brad Ziegler worked 1 1/3 innings to tie the Major League record for consecutive scoreless innings to begin a career.

From McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. The Rangers won, 9-4. Josh Hamilton and Chris Davis homered again and Marlon Byrd added one as the Rangers roughed up Justin Duchscherer to the tune of 8 runs in 6 innings, by far his worst outing of the year. Emil Brown and Mark Ellis homered for the A's.

Brad Ziegler took over sole possession of the Major League record for scoreless innings to begin a career by working 2 more, raising his total to 27 while bumping George McQuillan of the Phillies to second place, who'd set the old mark in 1907. Jack Cust and Kurt Suzuki accounted for most of the offense with home runs. Suzuki had 3 hits on the day.

From McAfee Coliseum in Oakland. The Royals won in 10 innings, 4-3. Jose Guillen's sacrifice fly provided the Royals with the go-ahead run. Mike Aviles had 3 hits and went 8-for-14 in the series. Five A's had 2 hits apiece but they left 15 runners on base. Brad Ziegler continued his amazing start, working a career-high 3 innings, aided by 3 double plays. His scoreless streak reached 30 innings, passing Rollie Fingers (29 2/3, 1971) for second on Oakland's all-time scoreless innings streak for relief pitchers. Paul Lindblad (32 1/3, 1975) currently holds the team record. Those streaks did not come at the beginning of their careers.

Juan Uribe and Toby Hall drove in Chicago's runs while a single by Emil Brown plated Oakland's only tally. Bobby Jenks earned his 25th save with a perfect ninth.
